One of my favorite parts about reading is talking about the book after. Books create a very certain atmosphere, and usually, when I finish reading, I can’t help but keep thinking about the book. During middle school, I even helped create a book club so everybody could talk about these books.
When I got to Tiverton High School, I was excited to join Reader’s Forum because it was a community that loved to talk about reading. I loved how everybody learned about new books from each other, speaking and bonding like a community. The atmosphere is always spot on, since we are surrounded by books in the library in the cozy, little alcove of the senior reading area.
Everybody has varied interests in what to read, ranging from classics to romance novels. If you think you can’t join because you haven’t read enough books, think twice, because we also love to talk about media! We talk about new shows and movies that we may have seen, especially if they are book adaptations. Another great reason to go is for inspiration. It can be difficult to find a book, especially one that you might find interesting. This is where Reader’s Forum comes in. During every meeting, we make a list of books we have read since the last meeting and we share if we would recommend the books or not. If you are unsure what you want to read, you could ask for a recommendation during a meeting and see what people have to offer. Reader’s Forum is the perfect place to make friends and debate about books and movie adaptations! (The books are always better).
Don’t be scared to join Reader’s Forum, packed with yummy snacks, a cozy atmosphere, and always an immersive discussion. Not to be biased, but it is one of the best clubs in school. Go sign up!
