Tuesday, May 19th, was the Tiverton High School AP Art Gallery. This was a display of the hard work and dedication each student put into Art this year. Every student got to choose a topic and create seven pieces based on this. The topics were heartfelt and defined each student.
For the gallery, students had a wide variety of mediums, including online art, etching, oil painting, and watercolor, which made each piece special to itself. These students chose their topics by looking inward and finding something important to them, using their passions, and building on previous works. When asked what their favorite part of this project was, the students mentioned coming up with ideas, exploring mediums and making the pieces, as well as seeing the end result. Now, this project was not without its challenges; students identified the largest hardships as figuring out their next piece and ideas, finding the energy to continue after dozens of hours of labor on their pieces, and figuring out how to tell their stories through the artwork.
People loved looking at the artwork and delving into the mind of each student, if only for a minute. For us, these pieces are moments in time, but for these students, they are parts of their hearts poured into sweat, tears, and beauty. They came out wonderfully and depicted each student to the best possible level. Congratulations to all the AP Art students on their successful gallery; it was one to remember.
