That time is around once more, Tiverton High voting season is here. We have student council elections upcoming for the junior, sophomore and freshman classes.
The student council has a few main jobs: to fundraise for their class, to plan homecoming and prom, run various spirit weeks, and other special events throughout the school year. To be elected this year, candidates must get 25 signatures from peers, and give a speech to the school about their values, and plans for the future.
The student council forms are going to be in the office from Monday the eleventh to the fifteenth. Applications are due on the 18th to Ms. Santos with the 25 signatures and your finished speech. The week of the eighteenth will be campaigning week, where posters will go up and people will try and win votes.
From there, speeches will be made on the 26th, and final votes will be made on the 29th. When voting, students must be considering who they think is truly capable of completing the requirements for their jobs, and their abilities to handle the workload. People must remember that it is not a popularity contest, rather that they should vote for the people they truly trust and believe in.
Good luck to all the candidates on all of their activities, we hope you all do excellent!
