On Friday, October 18th, Tiverton High School’s Senior Class of 2025 held a zombie apocalypse themed haunted house. The hauntings were spread throughout the school, but were based in three main locations:
1. Cafeteria
The Cafeteria held four scare actors and had the lunch tables lined up to direct tour guides and their groups through the room. Cobwebs and fake blood were covering the tables, and with the only light being bright red LEDs, the ominous environment mixed with screams from the scare actors helped create an unsettling start to the haunted house.
2. Courtyard
After your trip in the cafeteria, you were directed outside into the courtyard. Greeting you was a gorilla climbing a tree, a person in a gilly suit running after you, followed by the ringing noise of a real chainsaw revving. If that wasn’t enough, you could count on the people who wore masks with fake blood, and the chilling music playing throughout the night.
3. Auditorium
After being chased out of the courtyard, you’ve made it to your…final moments of life…final destination! The auditorium housed the most actors, and immediately when walking in you see none other than the easter bunny sitting on the edge of the stage waving at you. Your only way out is past him, so as you walk down the aisles, numerous faces swirl around you and block your path. The tour guide’s job was to lead you all the way to safety. Unfortunately, that is not the happy ending guests were hoping for. Once you leave the doors you think it’s all over? But at the last minute when you think it’s done, a group of skeletons make sure to remind you to never let your guard down.
Well, if you could make it through, you were able to enjoy goodies at the bake sale, made by the 2025 class members. Now, as a member of this class, who was a scare actor, my opinion on the house of course is not biased…I just think it was one of the better haunted houses THS has seen in recent years- and the school was definitely echoing with screams. Being at the start of the haunted house, I witnessed several participants who heard one scream and were already done. If you didn’t go, then it is difficult to get across how hard the Student Council and class of 2025 worked to put this haunted house together. It had also never been done in more than one part of the school before, so the following classes have some pretty big shoes to fill.
Until next year!
