Picture this, walking down the halls to go towards Ms. Roy’s old classroom and you see…a new friendly face? Tiverton High School Athletics received a new AD this school year!
Mr. Gouveia has been a teacher for thirty-six years and has taught most recently at New Bedford High School, though lives in Dartmouth. He has thought about becoming an athletic director a few times, and THS was the best time to seize the opportunity and we wouldn’t want it any other way!
“THS has been a good fit for me. I am only 15 miles away and everyone has been very welcoming and helpful. I am impressed with the level of pride that the faculty and staff have in the school. The students have been great and all of our fall athletic teams are very competitive, “ he said when interviewed about his experience so far as a new math teacher and AD in Tiverton.
Although he loves fall and spring sports, his favorite sport to watch is hockey. With our RMT hockey team Co-op, Mr. Gouveia can’t wait to watch their games!
In the future of Tiverton Athletics, he would like to see more students involved in athletics and maybe adding a few more sports. Hand-in-hand with wanting more participation he would like to see more three sport athletes at THS.
“A small school like us needs multi-sport athletes,” he stated to the THS Rumble.
Overall increased participation is his number one goal.
Though he’s just Ken, he’s not. He’s on the golf cart everyday, zooming around our campus and ready to fulfill AD duties this year!
